THE GUIDE TO BEIRUT: A CITY OBLIVIOUS TO THE HANDICAPPED (Studio)

RANI AL RAJJI, RANA MASSAAD

Date: 4-5 December

Open Studio: 5 December

One part of the workshop is about twisting the guide making methods and set of tools used to make a subjective and alternative city guide. These methods and tools will be adapted to make a quick guide of the impractical for handicapped city scape and transport. The first step will be an observation on how to be handicapped in a public space in Beirut. It will start with the mapping of a public space through a tour in a quarter of Beirut. During the tour, the participants will be taking pictures and writing notes that will lead to a booklet. The other part of the workshop is the analysis of the situation which will generate questionings. One (or some?) of the answers will be materialized in an installation or a design.
